2008 NHL Entry Draft
The Tampa Bay Lightning can't go wrong taking Sarnia Sting centre Steven Stamkos with the number one pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, according to TSN hockey analyst Pierre McGuire. With that in mind, Stamkos was named the top pick in the NHL on TSN Mock Draft. Bases on his experience as an NHL scout, coach and assistant GM, these are the picks McGuire thinks each team should make in the first round.

Pierre McGuire's Analysis: If I was Jay Feaster, it would be no contest. It's Steven Stamkos. He's excellent when it comes to leadership. He's unbelievable when it comes to speed. He's overwhelming when it comes to skill. All that leads to him being first overall - he's spectacular.
Drew Doughty is going to be an impact player for Los Angeles. He's not that tall, but he's big and Doughty knows the difference between pain and injury. Atlanta is crying out for leadership, so I think they are going to get Zach Bogosian, who is a strong leader with a heavy shot. Maybe he's not great defensively, but Alex Pietrangelo is fast, he's good with the puck and has an overwhelming shot.
Filatov is our wildcard. He's quick, he's got hockey sense and he can finish plays off. Schenn is the human eraser from the Kelowna Rockets, following in Dion Phaneuf's footsteps. I think anyone who passes on Schenn after the fourth pick is making a huge mistake.
Canadian Teams: If he's still on the table for the Leafs, Mikkel Boedker would fit because he has speed, leadership and character.
Everyone knows about the character issues with Kyle Beach, but scouts say he's been unbelievable in the interviews. He's one of those big body guys you have to have and Vancouver desperatley needs more offence.
I think the Flames will look close to home at Joe Colborne. A lot of people are comparing him to Joe Thornton, and justifiably so. The intensity will come.
A lot of people think the Senators have to get defence, but I don't think so and I like Josh Bailey because you need balanced offece, too. He would be an excellent addition to the Ottawa Senators.
I think the Oilers have to look for offence and Jordan Eberle is one of those players who is not too fast but gets it done. He's got that thing I like to call escapability, and he's a pure scorer - plus Edmonton loves to take guys from the WHL.
The Montreal Canadiens need a bigger presence and Nicolas Deschamps is one of those guys that can fit the role. If Montreal can get him at No. 25 that would be a pretty big coup for them.
