Coach Randy Carlyle tried a new line with Saku Koivu centering Matt Beleskey and Corey Perry as he prepared to play without leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf, who is day to day because of a sprained left ankle suffered Monday against the Kings. - LA Times


Atlanta Thrashers

Coach John Anderson confirmed that defenceman Boris Valabik suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. He was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Anderson said the plan remains to wait several days for the swelling to go down before surgery. - Atlanta Journal Constitution



Buffalo Sabres

Tyler Myers was struck in the face by a shot by Dan Paille with 43 seconds left in regulation and didn't return Tuesday night. - Buffalo News


Chicago Blackhawks

John Madden left the game with a lower-body injury and is doubtful to play in their two games this weekend before the 15-day Olympic break. Ben Eager missed his second consecutive game with a lower-body injury. Joel Quenneville said the winger's return could come after the upcoming 15-day Olympic break. Forward Adam Burish, who hasn’t played in 2009-10 after undergoing knee surgery during the preseason, has targeted the March 7 game against the Red Wings as his return date. Tomas Kopecky played in his second consecutive game after being a healthy scratch Friday. - Chicago Sun-Times


Colorado Avalanche

Winger Wojtek Wolski did not practice Tuesday after being hobbled by a slap shot in Monday's victory over St. Louis. Coach Joe Sacco said Wolski was not seriously injured and is expected to play tonight. Centre Ryan O’Reilly (foot) did not practice and is not expected to play. David Koci's broken hand is expected to keep him sidelined at least through the Olympic break. Craig Anderson will start in goal. - Denver Post


Columbus Blue Jackets

Defenceman Mike Commodore (charley horse) and Fredrik Modin (lower body) left Tuesday’s team practice after only 30 minutes. Neither is expected to play Wednesday night, nor is Anton Stralman, who was still wearing a protective boot on his left foot. Right winger Derek Dorsett (left wrist) is questionable. - Columbus Dispatch


Dallas Stars

Forward Steve Ott was scratched Tuesday in Chicago after an emergency appendectomy Monday. - Fort Worth Star-Telegram


Detroit Red Wings

Tomas Holmstrom (knee) didn't play Tuesday. Patrick Eaves (knee) missed the game, as did Niklas Kronwall (knee). GM Ken Holland said Eaves (sprained left ankle) will miss the rest of the week. Kronwall (knee) is waiting for a new brace and said he hopes to play as soon as that's available. Holmstrom (knee) missed Tuesday’s game and is day-to-day. - Detroit Free Press


Florida Panthers

The Panthers recalled Victor Oreskovich on Tuesday, putting him in the lineup for the first time since he was sent back to the minors last month. Nick Tarnasky was a healthy scratch as Oreskovich received a chance for another extended stay with the Panthers. - Miami Herald


Minnesota Wild

Josh Harding returned to practice after taking three days off following a cortisone shot in his injured left hip. - Star Tribune



Nashville Predators

The Predators have recalled centre Colin Wilson and defenceman Nolan Yonkman from Milwaukee. Wilson takes the place of centre Marcel Goc, who missed his second straight game because of an upper-body injury. Yonkman replaces defenceman Dan Hamhuis, who may return to Nashville. His wife is expected to have a baby soon. - Nashville Tennessean


New Jersey Devils

Coach Jacques Lemaire said Anssi Salmela will not play Wednesday night against the Flyers. Salmela likely suffered a concussion from Jeff Carter's hit, since he had memory loss and a headache. Rob Davison, called up from Lowell (AHL), will be in the lineup unless Lou Lamoriello makes a trade. - Star-Ledger


New York Islanders

Doug Weight, who has battled through a shoulder injury virtually all season, will play Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. - Newsday

New York Rangers

Marian Gaborik (thigh) is questionable. Rangers assistant GM Jim Schoenfeld would not say if Gaborik would be available Wednesday when the Rangers begin their final three-game push to the Olympic break. The Rangers have recalled defenceman Corey Potter from the AHL Wolf Pack. - NY Post


Philadelphia Flyers

Michael Leighton is expected to make his fourth straight start against the Devils in Newark. Once again, he is replacing Ray Emery, who missed nearly six weeks earlier in the season after abdominal surgery and is now bothered by an injured left hip. General manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement that an MRI test and X-rays on Emery’s hip were still 'being looked at' and that 'we hope to have more information in a day or two.' - Philadelphia Inquirer

Phoenix Coyotes

Centre Joel Perrault suffered an upper-body injury Monday in his first game with the team this season and was placed on injured reserve. Forwards Mikkel Boedker and Jeff Hoggan were recalled from San Antonio. Left wing Shane Doan (upper-body injury) is questionable for Wednesday night's game in Minnesota. Forward Vernon Fiddler (upper body) is listed day to day. - Arizona Republic


Washington Capitals

The club recalled G Semyon Varlamov from Hershey (AHL) on Tuesday morning. - Washington Post
