(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers try to build on Saturday's big win over Buffalo tonight when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.
The Thrashers handed the Sabres their first loss of the season, as Slava Kozlov scored the lone goal in the shootout to lead Atlanta to a 5-4 decision.
Bobby Holik and Scott Mellanby each had a goal and an assist in the win, and Kari Lehtonen stopped 32 shots plus all three skaters in the shootout for the Thrashers. Atlanta halted a two-game losing streak, and remains the leader in the Southeast Division with 19 points -- seven ahead of Carolina and Florida.
Atlanta's Marian Hossa got off to a sizzling start this season, but hasn't recorded a point in three straight games. Hossa is tied for the league lead with 10 goals so far.
Atlanta will host Carolina on Wednesday.
Toronto, meanwhile, ended a three-game skid on Saturday, as Kyle Wellwood scored the winning goal in the seventh round of a shootout to secure a 5-4 win over Montreal. Tomas Kaberle added a hat trick and an assist in regulation, while Jean-Sebastien Aubin finished with 18 saves.
The Leafs needed to go to overtime and a shootout despite peppering Montreal netminder David Aebischer with 51 shots. That stat included a whopping 19 in the second period.
Toronto will begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday in Tampa Bay.
The Leafs swept four games from the Thrashers last season and have won seven straight meetings in the series.
