Leafs sign Battaglia to two-year deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Bates Battaglia to a two-year deal worth $650,000 a year.

The rugged left winger appeared in all 82 games for the Maple Leafs in 2006-07, scoring 12 goals and 31 points.

The Chicago, Illinois native was originally drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the sixth round, 132 overall, of the 1994 Entry Draft.

Battaglia has played for Carolina, Washington, Colorado and Toronto during his ten year NHL career and has posted 80 goals and 198 in 567 career NHL games.
