TSN has learned that the San Jose Sharks have re-signed veteran forward Jeremy Roenick to a one-year contract.

TSN has learned that the contract is worth roughly $1 million, or slightly more than twice what he earned last season, however the paper work on the contract must still get approval from the NHL.

"I'm so happy to say that I will be back for another year," Roenick said from a video on the team's web site. "Super GM Doug Wilson and myself agreed to a deal the other day and I can't tell you, I am so ecstatic."

The 38-year old Roenick enjoyed a renaissance in San Jose this year after signing with the team as an unrestricted free-agent last season.  In 69 games, the Boston native scored 14 goals and 19 assists.  He also skated in 12 playoff games, picking up two goals and three assists.

The nine-time all-star has 509 goals and 694 assists in 20 NHL seasons split between Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Jose.
