The Calgary Flames have acquired restricted free agent forward Rene Bourque from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a future second-round draft pick.

"Rene is a young player with size who will play in our top nine forwards," said Flames general manager Darryl Sutter. "He will be an important part of the remaking of our left side along with other young players already under contract."

Bourque appeared in 62 games with Chicago last season, collecting 24 points. In his three seasons with the Blackhawks, he had 75 points in 183 games.

He was originally signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent out of the University of Wisconsin on July 29, 2004.
