The New York Rangers agreed to terms with free agent goaltender Steve Valiquette.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Valiquette, 30, appeared in 13 games with the Rangers this past season, registering a 5-3-3 record, along with a 2.19 goals against average, .916 save percentage and two shutouts. He established career-highs in games played (13), wins (five) and shutouts (two). He also posted a career-high, shutout streak of 124:58 from January 3 at Vancouver to February 10 at Washington.
The 6-6, 210-pound goaltender has appeared in 25 career games with the New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers and Rangers, registering a 9-6-3 record, along with a 2.40 goals against average, .916 save percentage and two shutouts.
The Etobicoke, Ontario native was originally Los Angeles' eighth round choice, 190th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
