Dan Boyle has signed his "no-trade" waiver and has agreed to a trade to the San Jose Sharks.

In return for the 31-year old veteran defenceman and defenceman Brad Lukowich, Tampa will receive a package that includes defencemen Matt Carle, Ty Wishart, a first round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

"Dan is one of the elite offensive-minded defensemen in the League today," said Wilson. "Being able to acquire an elite player in his prime that has won a Stanley Cup will help this organization get to where we want to go."

Boyle played in 37 games in 2007-08 after his wrist was cut by a skate in a freak accident, but he put up 25 points on four goals and 21 assists. In 523 career games over eight NHL seasons with Tampa Bay and Florida, he has posted 292 points, 34 power play goals and 338 penalty minutes.

He signed a six-year, $40 million extension in February just before the trade deadline and fired some verbal shots at Lightning management on his way out of Tampa Bay.

"I don't have the nicest things to say about the way things happened," Boyle said in a conference call.

"I was misled and disrespected and it really was not the right way to do a lot of things. I don't have actually anything good to say about how this all went down."

Boyle, who was part of Tampa Bay's Stanley Cup championship team in 2004, had a career year in 2006-2007 when he scored 20 goals with 43 assists for 63 points.

Carle, struggled in 2007-08 posting two goals and 13 assists in 62 games.  In 2006-07, he thrived on the point posting 11 goals and 31 assists.

Carle was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2nd round (47th overall) in 2003.
