Nashville inks first-rounder Pickard

Nashville, TN - The Nashville Predators signed goaltender Chet Pickard to an entry-level contract on Monday.

The 18-year-old was the 18th-overall selection and the first netminder taken in the 2008 draft this past June.

Pickard, Nashville's second pick in the draft, played in 64 games for the Tri- City Americans of the WHL in 2007-08 and went 46-12-4 with a 2.32 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

He also saw action in 16 playoff games for the Americans, posting an 11-3-2 mark, 1.78 GAA and .937 save percentage in those outings.
