ST. LOUIS - David Perron had three goals and an assist, and Andy McDonald added five assists to help the St. Louis Blues to a 9-4 pre-season win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday night.

Brad Boyes and Lee Stempniak had two goals and an assist each for the Blues (2-1), while Paul Kariya and Patrik Berguland both had a goal and an assist. Manny Legace started in goal and faced 15 shots, making 12 saves.

Brett Sterling scored twice for Atlanta (1-1), and Eric Boulton and Todd White added one goal apiece.

Sterling started the scoring just 1:10 into the game when he converted off a Blues turnover. But Kariya scored a power-play goal off a scramble in front 9:04 later, and Berglund beat Thrashers goalie Johan Hedberg with a slapshot at 14:54 of the first period to give the Blues the lead for good.

Stempniak put the game away when he scored at 2:01 and again at 5:14 of the third period to make it 7-3. Perron scored at 8:07 and completed his hat trick when he pushed the puck past Atlanta's Ondrej Pavelec at 12:09.
