The Edmonton Oilers have claimed defenceman Steve MacIntyre off waivers from the Florida Panthers.

The 28-year old MacIntyre has yet to play a game in the NHL since signing with the New York Rangers as a free agent in 2003.

Known more for his pugilistic talents, the 6'6", 265 pound MacIntyre racked up 213 penalty minutes, including 20 fighting majors in 62 games with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League last season.
