The Vancouver Canucks placed forward Jeff Cowan on waivers on Saturday, while the club lost defenceman Nathan McIver to the Anaheim Ducks via the waiver wire as well.

The Canucks claimed Cowan off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings in 2006. In 413 career games, the veteran forward has 47 goals and 81 points with 695 penalty minutes.

McIver, 23, was drafted by the Canucks in the eighth round of the 2003 draft. He's played in 18 NHL games. McIver appeared in three preseason games with Vancouver, going scoreless with a +2 rating and 16 penalty minutes.
