Canucks return first round pick Hodgson to OHL

The Vancouver Canucks will let centre Cody Hodgson develop for another season in junior, as the club sent their top prospect back to Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League on Monday.

Hodgson, 18, signed a three-year entry-level contract with the team on Sunday.

The Brampton Battalion forward, Vancouver's first pick (10th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, had 40 goals and 45 assists in 68 games in the OHL last season. He also recorded five goals in five playoff games last spring.

The 6'0", 185-pound centre was named captain of Canada's gold medal-winning squad at the 2008 Under-18 IIHF World Championship. He scored 12 points and led all skaters in assists with 10). The Haliburton, Ontario native also won a gold medal with Team Ontario at the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
