Johan Franzen of the Detroit Red Wings is expected to miss three to four weeks with a knee sprain.

Franzen suffered the injury in the second period of Saturday night's shootout win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Franzen collided with Hawks' defenceman Brent Sopel midway through the period and left the ice under his own power but did not return to the game.

"We'll know on Monday," Babcock said after the game. "Obviously, he's hurt. Whether its hyper-extended or there's any ligament damage, we'll find out later."

In eight games this season, Franzen has scored five goals and added two assists for seven points.
