VANCOUVER - Boston Bruins winger Milan Lucic received a special gift from his former junior hockey team Tuesday.
The Vancouver native, who won Memorial Cup title with the WHL's Giants in 2007, was presented with a new championship ring to replace the one that was stolen from his home over the summer.
"The (Giants) owner Ron Toigo made me a new one, from the Vancouver Giants," the 20-year-old Lucic said at the morning skate ahead of Tuesday's Canucks-Bruins game.
Toigo's wife Michelle made presentation in an informal ceremony at GM Place.
Lucic's original ring was stolen from his family's Vancouver home in July while he was in Boston for a charitable event and his parents were away.
The MVP of the 2007 Memorial Cup, Lucic was making his first appearance as an NHLer in his hometown. Due to the NHL's unbalanced schedule, the Bruins did not play in Vancouver during his rookie year last season.
He recorded eight goals and 19 assists in 77 games in 2007-08. Prior to Tuesday's game he had four goals and three assists in nine games this season.
