The Vancouver Canucks were successful in bringing up forward Michel Ouellet from the Manitoba Moose, the Canucks' AHL affiliate.

The 26-year-old Rimouski native, on a one-way contract for $1.3 million, was not claimed on re-entry waivers prior to today's deadline and will join the Canucks, who are missing forwards Jannik Hansen (groin), Pavol Demitra (ribs) and Rick Rypien (sports hernia surgery).

If claimed, the Canucks would have been on the hook for 50 per cent of the remaining portion of his contract, which would count against the cap.

Ouellet, who was acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Shane O'Brien-Lukas Krajicek trade in October, leads the Moose in scoring with four goals and six assists.

Ouellet has played 187 career NHL games and registered 116 points (52-64-116).

Also on Tuesday, the Canucks re-assigned Jason Krog to the Moose. Krog, 32, scored a goal in four games with Vancouver after being recalled on October 21.
