The Nashville Predators have added some toughness to their lineup as they have acquired defenceman/forward Wade Belak from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Nick Tarnasky.

The 32-year old Belak has 25 penalty minutes in 15 games this season for the Panthers, but was recently made a healthy scratch by head coach Peter DeBoer.  The Saskatoon native, who was acquired by the Panthers at the NHL trade deadline last season, has eight goals, 21 assists and 1,133 penalty minutes in 456 career games.

Belak was originally taken 12th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.

Meanwhile the 24-year old Tarnasky has played in 10 games this season for the Predators, picking up one assist.  In 179 career games he has 11 goals and 10 asssits.
