TAMPA, Fla. - Steve Downie is headed back to the American Hockey League.

The Tampa Bay Lightning assigned the winger to Norfolk on Friday. He appeared in eight games for Tampa after getting recalled on Nov. 27, scoring one goal.

The 21-year-old played six AHL games for the Admirals after joining the organization in a trade from Philadelphia last month.

Downie received a three-game suspension for a hit from behind during his first stint in Norfolk.

In his second year as a professional, Downie has appeared in 46 career NHL games and another 32 in the AHL.
