The Boston Bruins have placed forward Patrice Bergeron on injured reserve.

Bergeron has not played since suffering a concussion in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes on December 20. The Boston Globe reported yesterday that Bergeron, who missed almost all of last season after suffering a severe concussion, is still experiencing some headaches.

"His headaches are always better as we move on. But they're still there," Bruins coach Claude Julien told the Globe. "That's the reality of it. He is feeling better, and certainly at a better rate than the first time it happened. It's not even comparable. But the headaches are still there. They're minimizing every day and hopefully, sooner or later, they'll disappear.

There is no timetable for Bergeron's return to physical activity.

In 31 games this season, Bergeron had four goals and 14 assists for 18 points. He has 76 goals and 131 assists in 270 career NHL games.

Boston also announced that center Martin St. Pierre, who scored his first goal as a Bruin in Tuesday's win over Pittsburgh, has been sent back to the Providence Bruins of the AHL.  St. Pierre has 35 points in 30 AHL games this season, tops for Providence.
