Question No. 1: Will the Montreal Canadiens make a major move before the trade deadline?
Ray Ferraro: Yes they will. We talk about the power play almost every time the Montreal Canadiens play a game. They need a power play quarterback; their power play has been abysmal. Leafs defenceman Tomas Kaberle has a no-trade contract and if I'm Kaberle, I let Brian Burke know that I'll waive my no-trade to go to a select list of teams and the Canadiens would be at the top of the list. I think a change of scenery will help Kaberle, who was miserable Tuesday night against the Panthers.
Bob McKenzie: Yes, I think they'll make a major move. What it is, well that's up to Bob Gainey but if it were me, I'd go out and get Brendan Shanahan. You don't even have to wait until the trade deadline - go out right now and get a guy with a big shot, an extra guy on the power play to try and liven things up. I would go Brendan Shanahan.
John Tortorella: Yes, a puck-moving defenceman. You can never have enough Mathieu Schneider -type players.
Question No. 2: Should the New York Rangers bring back Sean Avery?
John Tortorella: No, and I don't even want to talk about Avery.
Ray Ferraro: Absolutely not. Its one thing we know publicly what has been stated about what Avery disrupted the Dallas Stars with, it's the other stuff that he did. He's not going to follow a drill, he's doesn't want to listen to team rules; why would you bring that disruption back?
Bob McKenzie: Surprisingly, I will say yes. Not right now, right now he's getting help, he's getting treatment, he's getting counseling. At some point, someone has to give this guy a second chance and he functioned well within the New York Rangers, and the last time I checked the Rangers are not the same team without him. They don't have nearly as much bite as they did before. He's going to be a contrite fellow and if he's not, you get rid of him quickly, but give him a chance. I think he'd help this team down the road.
Question No. 3: Chris Chelios or Scott Stevens: Who ranks higher?
Bob McKenzie: Boy, that's a tough one but I'll say Stevens. Just because he was a more impact player, because of the way that he hit, and that he was feared throughout the league for the way that he hit. Chelios is the ultimate warrior but for me, nobody hit like Stevens and was a fearsome player.
John Tortorella: I will go with Chelios. It's tough to pick between those two - it's a lousy question to be honest with you. Just Chelios' conditioning that he's in and stayed in and what he's done for his team, plus he's an American.
Ray Ferraro: I'm going to say Stevens because he could change the course of the game with one hit. Let's not remember Chelios and compare Chelios as the player he is now, he's obviously far older. When he was young, he was a terrific player but Stevens could change a game in an instant.
Question No. 4: Thumbs up or thumbs down to the NHL playing games on Christmas Day?
John Tortorella: Thumbs down. It's just wrong.
Bob McKenzie: I will go with thumbs down as well. Christmas is Christmas, there are plenty of days to play NHL games, they don't need to play them on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. The players like it that way, keep it that way.
Ray Ferraro: I say thumbs up but only with a little caveat to it. There are 30 teams in the league, you play once every 5-6 years and there's a mandatory three-day break between December 20th and 30th. That's the only way I would do it and guess what; I think it's going to happen.
