Thrashers trade Williams to Blue Jackets for Wilson, draft pick

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired forward Jason Williams from the Atlanta Thrashers on Wednesday, in exchange for defenseman Clay Wilson and a sixth-round draft pick in 2009.

Williams recorded seven goals and 18 points in 41 games this season for the Thrashers. Over 337 career contests in seven-plus seasons with three clubs, the 28-year-old has 73 goals and 176 points including a Stanley Cup title with Detroit in 2002.

Wilson picked up one assist in five games for the Jackets. He has scored one goal with three points in 12 games over the last two seasons for Columbus.
