The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Wednesday that Daniel Briere will undergo an exploratory surgical procedure on his groin area, and will miss at least two weeks of action.
"I am very disappointed," said Briere in a statement. "It's been frustrating not knowing what is going on, so we have decided to go in and check things out."
The procedure is to be done on Thursday at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Briere had been on a conditioning assignment with the AHL Philadelphia Phantoms, where he played three games. THe forward has missed the last 21 Flyers games with a groin strain, and has played just 9 times this season.
