Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Montreal Canadiens forward Alexei Kovalev and San Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton have been selected as captains for their respective squads at the NHL All-Star Game.

Kovalev will captain the Eastern Conference in his home arena for Sunday's All-Star Game at the Bell Centre in Montreal. He was chosen as a starter in fan balloting and is making his third All-Star Game appearance.
