The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenceman Nathan McIver from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Mike Brown on Wednesday.

McIver has played 18 games for the Ducks in the 2008-09 season. Over that span, he picked up one assist, with 36 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating.

This will be his second tour with the Canucks. He was drafted by Vancouver in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft (8th round, 254th overall).

The 24-year-old was claimed by the Ducks off waivers from the Canucks back in October. He will be sent to Manitoba of the AHL.

Brown, 23, has played in 20 games for the Canucks this season. He notched one assist, 85 penalty minutes and a minus-5 rating.
