Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames have signed forward Nigel Dawes to a two-year contract worth $850,000 per season.

The Flames claimed Dawes off waivers from Phoenix last Thursday. He split last season with the Coyotes and New York Rangers, accumulating 10 goals and 11 assists in a combined 64 games.

Dawes had 10 goals and nine assists in 52 games for the Rangers last season before being dealt to Phoenix as part of the package that sent defenseman Derek Morris to New York at the trade deadline. He posted two assists in 12 games with the Coyotes.

For his career, the native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has 25 goals and 26 assists in 133 games with the Rangers and Coyotes.
