San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks re-signed forward Ryan Vesce to a one-year contract and inked four others to one-year pacts on Thursday. Per club policy, financial details were not disclosed.
The 27-year-old Vesce skated in 10 games for San Jose last season, making his NHL debut on February 11. Signed as a free agent in August of 2008, Vesce was an American Hockey League All-Star last year after posting 24 goals and 47 assists for Worcester.
San Jose also signed right wing Jed Ortmeyer, center Dwight Helminen and defensemen Joe Callahan and Danny Groulx to one-year contracts.
Ortmeyer, 30, spent the past two seasons with Nashville and has skated in 230 career NHL games. Over parts of five seasons with the Rangers and Predators he has 13 goals and 19 assists.
Helminen split time between the Hurricanes and Albany of the AHL last season and had a goal and assist in 23 NHL contests. The 26-year-old also appeared in one playoff game after making his pro debut earlier in the year.
Callahan, 26, appeared in 18 games for the Islanders in 2008-09, making his NHL debut and recording two assists. Groulx played for Rockford of the AHL last year and registered six goals and 34 assists in 80 games.
