Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Thrashers signed forward Evander Kane to a multi-year contract on Monday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kane, the fourth overall selection in this year's draft, scored 48 goals and dished out 48 assists as a member of the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League last season. The 17-year-old also tallied seven goals and eight assists in 17 playoff games for the Giants last year.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound left wing registered two goals and four helpers in six games while winning a Gold Medal with Team Canada during the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships in Ottawa, Ontario.
Kane scored 73 goals and had 65 assists in 134 career WHL contests with Vancouver.
