With more regular season games than ever before, TSN and TSN2 present its 124-game NHL ON TSN broadcast schedule for the 2009-10 regular season. All games will be available nationally in High Definition. Games and highlights will also be available on-demand on TSN.ca.
This year's combined 124-game national broadcast package is part of TSN/TSN2's multi-year broadcast and digital rights agreement with the NHL. A total of 89 regular season games will air on TSN, with 70 games featuring at least one Canadian team. TSN2's regular season schedule features 35 live NHL games showcasing non-Canadian teams. In addition, TSN and TSN2 will produce and televise a total of six pre-season games featuring each of the six Canadian clubs.
Regular season coverage on TSN gets underway on Friday, Oct. 2 with two NHL Premiere games from Europe, as the Florida Panthers take on the Chicago Blackhawks in Helsinki, Finland, at 12 noon ET immediately followed by the Detroit Red Wings facing off against the St. Louis Blues in Stockholm, Sweden, at 3 p.m. ET. TSN2 hits the ice on Monday, Oct. 5 with NY Rangers @ New Jersey at 7 p.m. ET. (See broadcast schedule below.)

Highlights of the NHL ON TSN schedule include three all-Canadian match-ups featuring Ottawa @ Toronto (October 6), Montreal @ Vancouver (October 7) and Toronto @ Montreal (December 1). In total, TSN will feature a minimum of 10 games for each of the six Canadian teams.
Additional highlights of the NHL ON TSN regular season schedule include:
- 16 doubleheaders
- 12 games featuring the Washington Capitals and last season's Lester B. Pearson, Maurice Richard and Hart Trophy winner Alexander Ovechkin
- 12 games featuring Sidney Crosby and the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins
- 12 games featuring Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks
- 6 Original Six match-ups
- 4 games featuring the NY Islanders and No. 1 overall draft pick John Tavares
- Continued exclusivity of WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY, during which there are no other national or local NHL telecasts
Headlining the NHL ON TSN's Canadian team coverage during the regular season is the Toronto Maple Leafs with 17 appearances, followed by the Montreal Canadiens with 16 and 10 appearances each for the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators.
TSN has exclusive Canadian specialty television rights for national English-language broadcast and digital coverage of NHL games. Once again, TSN will have coverage of the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, continued exclusive Canadian coverage of the NHL Entry Draft and NHL Draft Lottery, and a suite of broadband, wireless and video-on-demand rights for NHL ON TSN telecasts.
TSN will also feature the NHL's brightest stars competing on the world's most prestigious international stage at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, as they go for gold in men's hockey.
Augmenting TSN's coverage, NHL Network will announce its schedule of live NHL games for the 2009-10 regular season in the near future. NHL Network will also feature pre-season action, including the match-up from Terrace, B.C., as the Vancouver Canucks take on the NY Islanders on September 14 at 10pm et.
