Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed right wing Martins Karsums to a one-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Karsums has appeared in 24 NHL games with Tampa Bay and Boston, notching a goal and five assists. He was acquired by the Lightning at the trade deadline last March in a deal that sent Mark Recchi to the Bruins.

The 23-year-old native of Latvia played 18 games with the Lightning after the deal and posted a goal with four assists. He scored his first career NHL goal on April 3 against New Jersey.

Selected in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Bruins, Karsums has 50 goals and 139 points in 176 career AHL games.
