Who says you can't go home again?

Edmonton native Mike Comrie has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Oilers worth $1.125 million.

Comrie, originally drafted by Edmonton in the third round (91st overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, rejoins the Oilers after having played there from 2000-2003.

"I had to make a decision on some of the options I had,"Comrie said. "This was the one that felt right. I got chills walking back into this rink. It's been a while since I had a feeling like that."

Comrie originally joined the Oilers half-way through the 2000-01 season, signing a $10-million deal with the team.  In the 2001-02 season, he set a career-high with 60 points.
However hist stint with the Oilers ended acrimoniously as the one-time hometown hero became the target of fans ire due to a 30-game holdout in the 2003-04 season.  The team traded Comrie to the Flyers for Jeff Woywitka and a pair of draft picks who turned out to be Robbie Schremp and Danny Syvret.

Along with Oilers and Flyers, the 28-year-old has also played for the Phoenix Coyotes, New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators. Comrie has posted 154 goals and 184 assists for 338 points in 525 games in the NHL.  He has also kept in the public eye thanks to his relationship with singer/actress Hillary Duff.

Last season, Comrie started the year with the Islanders before being dealt to the Senators with Chris Campoli for Dean McAmmond and a first round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
