Sabres ink Stafford to two-year extension

The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Drew Stafford to a two-year contract extension worth US$3.8 million.

Stafford will earn $1.5 million in tand $2.3 million in the 2010-11 campaign.

Stafford, 23, appeared in 79 games for the Sabres last season, putting up career-high numbers; 20 goals, 25 assists and 45 points.

In three NHL seasons with Buffalo, Stafford has totaled 49 goals and 61 assists in 184 games.

The native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was a first round (13th overall) selection of the Sabres in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
