The New York Rangers agreed to terms with restricted free agent Brandon Dubinsky on a 2-year, $3.7 million deal Saturday.

According to Newsday, Dubinsky was originally looking for a 4-year, $16 million deal while the Rangers made a one-year qualifying offer of $522,500.

Last season, the Alaska native scored 13 goals and added 28 assists for 41 points in 82 games. The 23-year-old also amassed 112 minutes in penalties in his second full NHL campaign.

In 2008, Dubinsky was named MVP of the NHL YoungStars Game at the All-Star Game, notching two goals and an assist.  He was also selected as the winner of the Steven McDonald award by the fans, given to the player who performs 'above and beyond the call of duty'.

There had been speculation before training camp began that Dubinsky was being tabbed to centre the Rangers' top line with Marian Gaborik on the wing.

Newsday reports that Rangers general manager Glen Sather has instructed Dubinsky to report for practice on Monday.
