The Carolina Hurricanes will be without forward Erik Cole for four-to-six weeks after an MRI revealed a fracture in his lower left leg.

Cole suffered the injury in the third period of Saturday's loss to the Bruins when he collided with Bruins' defenceman Dennis Wideman.

The loss will be an additional blow to the ‘Canes who have lost their first two games of the season.

At practice Sunday, Tuomo Ruutu skated in Cole's spot on Eric Staal's wing and it appears as though Tim Conboy will take his spot on the roster.
