The Atlanta Thrashers have locked up a big part of their offense by signing Rich Peverley to a two-year deal worth $2.6 million.

The 27-year old Peverley has been phenomenal for the Thrashers since being picked up off waivers from the Nashville Predators last season.  In 44 total games with the Thrashers he has 17 goals and 25 assists.  He is currently second in team scoring with four goals and three assists in five games.

In 117 career games, the Guelph, Ontario native has 24 goals and 38 assists.

The Thrashers undoubtedly hope that this will help in the re-signing of star sniper Ilya Kovalchuk who is set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.
