The lengthy injury list continues to grow for the Vancouver Canucks.

Kyle Wellwood is the latest addition after suffering a broken toe trying to block a shot in Saturday's win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"I ended up getting hit with a shot right off the front of my skate and fractured my right big toe," Wellwood told reporters.

The injury occured when Wellwood blocked a shot by defenceman Mike Komisarek and played the rest of the game but his foot swelled up when he took off his skate after the game.

Daniel Sedin (broken foot), Sami Salo (knee sprain) and Pavol Demitra (shoulder) are already on the injured list.

"It didn't hurt during the game," Wellwood admitted.  "But once I took my skate off it started swelling."

He is listed as day-to-day and the team will monitor his condition to see when he can get his foot back in the skate.

Winger Sergei Shirokov has been recalled from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL to take Wellwood's spot on the roster.
