Dallas Stars centre Steve Ott has been suspended two games by the National Hockey League for his hip check on Blues defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo Saturday in St. Louis.
Ott low-bridged Colaiacovo midway through the second period, flipping him into the air. Colaiacovo landing hard on his back and left the game with what the Blues called an upper-body injury.
Ott, who previously was suspended for one game, is now considered a repeat offender under terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, Ott forfeits $36,585.36 in salary, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Ott will miss the Stars' two home games this week, Wednesday against Toronto and Friday against Florida. He will be eligible to return for Saturday's game in Nashville.
