Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The injury bug continues to feast on the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins as Brooks Orpik joined the ranks of the walking wounded.
The team announced Thursday that the defenseman will be sidelined for two weeks with a lower-body injury. Orpik was hurt during the first period of Tuesday's loss in Boston after crashing awkwardly into the boards.
He joins fellow blueliners Kris Letang (shoulder contusion) and Sergei Gonchar (broken left wrist), and forwards Evgeni Malkin (shoulder strain), Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) and Maxime Talbot (torn labrum) on the shelf.
Orpik has six assists in 18 games this season.
