Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Washington Capitals forward Quintin Laing will miss 4-to-6 weeks after suffering a broken jaw.
Laing took a puck square in the face during the third period of Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers. He underwent surgery which saw team doctors insert plates on the left side of his face and also wire his jaw shut, according to the Washington Post.
Only a quarter of the way through the season, it has been an unlucky one for the 30-year-old, who had to deal with a swine-flu diagnosis in October which caused him to miss three games.
The fourth-year pro has two goals in 18 games this year for Washington.
