The NHL on TSN panel voices its opinions in the Wednesday Night Hockey Quiz each week, but with the Grey Cup set to go this weekend in Calgary they added an extra twist. The CFL on TSN panel was pressed into action during the game between the Phoenix Coyotes and Calgary Flames for a special question.
TSN.ca offers you the opportunity to chime in on the big issues with the Insiders. Read the questions and answers from TSN's hockey experts and give us your thoughts in the Your Call feature.
Question 1 (CFL on TSN): Out of the Coyotes and Flames who would be the best football player/coach?
Dave Randorf: Easy, Shane Doan. He's the captain of the Coyotes and has been the captain of Team Canada so he has that leadership quality. I see him as a middle linebacker, an old school guy who hits you and you stay hit. Or, he could be a receiver like Ray Elgaard... good luck bringing him down.
Jock Climie: I'm going with Jarome Iginla and think the reasons are obvious. He has great hands with 16 goals already this season, he can play slotback on any team I'm on. And, don't forget toughness, he's second on the Flames in penalty minutes. He can run block and knock down some linebackers.
Matt Dunigan: I'm going with Dion Phaneuf as a middle linebacker. He's 6'3", 215 lbs, from Edmonton Alberta and spent time with the Red Deer Rebels in the WHL. He's not worried about going into the corners and digging out that puck.
Chris Schultz: I'll take Brent Sutter, he can coach in the NHL and he can coach in the CFL.
Question 2: Thumbs up or down to Miikka Kiprusoff's position that he will not go to the Olympics if he is not the starter for Finland?
Darren Dreger: Two thumbs up for Kiprusoff. This is a commitment to the Flames and being ready for the Stanley Cup playoffs. So he made a commitment to the Flames and not to the bench of Team Finland. He told Finland this in the summer, so this is no surprise.
Craig MacTavish: Thumbs down. Where does patriotism come to play in all of this, I'm surprised Miikka Kiprusoff would make a statement like that. I think it is irrelevant to begin with because if he has a bad first period, even if he is the starter, he's done. So just go there have a great attitude, he's going to be the starter, and just do a good job for your country.
Bob McKenzie: I'll say thumbs up. I can't criticize him if he wants to be honest and upfront and say what he really believes in his heart. However, he has to accept the consequences for that. So it will also be thumbs up to Jari Kurri if he says 'get lost Miikka, we'll take somebody else,' or if the fans in Finland draw and quarter him because they think it's unpatriotic.
Question 3: Which is the most startling stat so far this season - Hurricanes on pace for 44 fewer points than last season, 33 players have more assists than Sidney Crosby's 13, Phil Kessel is averaging more shots than Alexander Ovechkin right now, Anze Kopitar's points?
Bob McKenzie: Carolina. I would have bet big money that after the playoff they had last year they would have been able to build on that. They picked up a little extra depth on defence with bringing Aaron Ward in and I though that Cam Ward and Eric Staal would pick up where they left off, and I thought the would get Cup consideration this season.
Darren Dreger: I am going to go with Carolina as well. Eric Staal has not been healthy this entire season dating back to Orientation Camp in Calgary. He was hampered by a groin injury and has missed the last 10 games. With a healthy Staal this team is much better.
Craig MacTavish: I'll take the long odds on Kopitar. Slovenia is probably about the same size as Brantford, Ontario, but there are very long odds on producing a player like that to lead the league, much like Wayne Gretzky.
Question 4: If you had to make room on Team Canada for a seventh defenceman or thirteenth forward, who would you pick - Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic, Chris Phillips or Stephane Robidas?
Craig MacTavish: Milan Lucic. I'm going to Vancouver for this tournament and I want to be there when he plays those six shifts. That would be entertaining.
Bob McKenzie: I'll go Stephane Robidas the defenceman for the Dallas Stars, he is the ultimate warrior. He plays big minutes, he is absolutely selfless and his teammates love him. He would be the perfect seventh defenceman for Team Canada.
Darren Dreger: I'm going with Milan Lucic as well. I know Team Canada management loved him in the August Orientation Camp, good combination of brawn and skill.
