Things are not looking good for the Edmonton Oilers.
The struggling club stretched their winless streak to 13 games with a 6-1 loss to the rival Calgary Flames on Saturday. As if that was not enough, Edmonton also lost defenceman Sheldon Souray to a fractured hand.
Souray has been the focus of speculation with the March 3 trade deadline looming and there is no telling how the injury will impact his value on the market.
The veteran blue-liner suffered the injury in a fight with Flames captain Jarome Iginla during the third period. Souray will be examined on Monday in Edmonton to determine the extent of the injury.
Edmonton sits last in the NHL with 38 points, seven back of the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Souray has four goals, nine assists and a minus-19 rating over 37 games this season.
