The Chicago Blackhawks have added defenseman Nick Boynton from the Anaheim Ducks.

The Hawks, who have assigned the defenceman to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, will send future considerations to the Ducks.

The 31-year old Boynton has recorded seven points, 59 penalty minutes, and a +1 plus/minus rating in 42 games with Anaheim this season.

The Boston Bruins' first choice, 21st overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Boynton has registered 33 goals and 102 assists in 547 National Hockey League games with Boston, Phoenix, Florida and Anaheim over a 10-year career.
