The Minnesota Wild have sent forward Eric Belanger to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a second-round draft pick.

Belanger was pulled off the ice today during the Wild's pre-game skate in Calgary and told of the deal.

The 32-year old Sherbrooke, Quebec native has 13 goals and 22 assists in 60 games this season.

Belanger previously played for Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau when both were with the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters between 1999-2001.
