Colorado Avalanche forward Darcy Tucker will miss Wednesday's crucial game against the Los Angeles Kings as he serves a one-game suspension.
The NHL announced on Tuesday that Tucker was suspended for making excessive physical contact on an icing play with the Kings' Matt Green during the Colorado's loss to Los Angeles on Monday.
Tucker, who was assessed a tripping penalty on the play, will forfeit $11,658.03 in salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
In 63 games this season, the 35-year old Tucker has seven goals and 13 assists.
Los Angeles sit in fifth in the Western Conference with 89 points, two points ahead of the seventh place Avalanche.
