The season is not quite over for some of the biggest stars of the Washington Capitals.

Forwards Alex Ovechkin and Semyon Varlamov and goaltender Alexander Semin have been confirmed to represent Russia at the upcoming World Hockey Championship in Germany. Also, New Jersey's Ilya Kovalchuk and Los Angeles' Alexander Frolov have arrived in Moscow to join the Russian national team's preparations for the tournament.

Ovechkin, Semin and Kovalchuk were part of the 2008 World Championship gold medal team while Kovalchuk also won gold last season in Switzerland. He was also named Best Forward and MVP in 2009.

The tournament gets underway on May 7 with Russia's first game on May 9 against Slovakia.
