The Atlanta Thrashers will interview Scott Arniel for their vacant head coaching job later this week.

Arniel is the head coach of the Manitoba Moose, the Amercian Hockey League affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.

Arneil guided the Moose to a record of 40-33-5-2, good enough for fourth place in the Northern Division. In the playoffs, the Moose were eliminated by the Hamilton Bulldogs in the first round.

The Thrashers fired John Anderson after the team failed to make the playoffs. Despite trading away franchise player Ilya Kovalchuk before the Olympic break, the Thrashers rallied but fell five points short of a playoff berth.
