The Washington Capitals have avoided arbitration with defenceman Jeff Schultz, agreeing to a 4-year, $11 million contract.

Schultz, who played in 73 games with the club last season, scored 3 goals and added 20 assists.  He also led the entire NHL in plus-minus with a plus-50 rating.

In 247 career games, the Capitals first round pick (27th overall) in 2004, has scored nine goals and recorded 47 assists.
