ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Anaheim Ducks traded defenceman Steve Eminger to the New York Rangers on Friday for left wing Aaron Voros and minor leaguer Ryan Hillier.

The Rangers will be the sixth team in the last four seasons for Eminger, a seven-year pro. He was a disappointment in his only season with Anaheim, scoring 16 points in 63 games amid several healthy scratches.

Eminger played with Washington, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and Florida before signing with the Ducks last September.

Eminger's departure leaves Lubomir Visnovsky, Sheldon Brookbank, James Wisniewski and newcomer Toni Lydman as the Ducks' only experienced NHL defencemen.

Voros scored seven points in 41 games with the Rangers last year, his third NHL campaign. New York put him on waivers last month, but he'll compete for a fourth-line spot in Anaheim after Matt Brown was traded to Toronto last month.

"The way coach (Randy) Carlyle likes his team run, I think my style of play fits in really well," Voros said. "I just need to play my game and I think I'll be successful."

Although the 29-year-old Voros has 352 penalty minutes and 37 fighting majors in 150 career NHL games, he thinks he'll bring more than toughness to the Ducks. He cites Anaheim enforcer George Parros as an example of the multi-dimensional tough guy he hopes to become.

"I play a pretty simple game with a lot of energy, a physical game," Voros said. "I'm willing to stick up for teammates and fight, just do whatever is needed. The reason I'm in the league is because I play a physical game, I finish my checks, I go to the net. I know what I need to do every game in order to be a good player. I'm just looking to bring that to Anaheim."

Hillier played mostly in the ECHL last season. The former Quebec junior star has struggled to score in the pros, going scoreless in four games with the Rangers' AHL affiliate last season.
