The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Shawn Belle to a one-year, two-way deal.

The 25-year-old Edmonton native was picked 30th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Belle had three goals and 16 assists for the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs last season, also playing in two games for the Montreal Canadiens and registering no points.

In his only other NHL action, Belle had one assists in nine games with the Minnesota Wild during the 2006-07 season.

The 6'1, 220-pound blueliner will make $650,000 in the NHL and $150,000 in the AHL.
