Hockey Canada won't be getting a look at some of their returning players next week at their World Junior development camp in St. John's, as they announced Friday that defenceman Ryan Ellis and forward Taylor Hall will not be participating.

Hall, who was taken first overall by the Edmonton Oilers last month at the NHL draft, has informed Hockey Canada and the CHL that he will not be attending. By choosing not to attend the summer camp, he is ineligible to attend the selection camp in December.

Hall is expected to earn a full-time spot with the Oilers this fall.

Defenceman Jared Cowen will be in attendance at the camp but will not be available for contact due to his recovery from mononucleosis.  Ellis, as a two-time member of Canada's National Junior Team, has opted to not attend the camp, which is allowed under program policy.

Defencemen Nathan Beaulieu (Saint John, QMJHL) and Brock Beukeboom (Sault Ste. Marie, OHL), and forward Joey Hishon (Owen Sound, OHL) have been added to the roster in their place.
