Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Lightning added depth to the forward position by agreeing to a one-year contract with free agent forward Sean Bergenheim on Tuesday.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
"We are happy to add Sean to the Lightning roster today," Tampa Bay vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman said. "He is a competitive left winger who is also a solid two-way player. We believe he is a good addition to our team."
The 26-year-old Bergenheim was taken with the 22nd overall pick in the 2002 NHL draft by the New York Islanders. In his tenure on Long Island, the 5-foot-10 205-pounder has tallied 40 goals and 40 assists over 246 career games.
